Hatsu - 40g
Astringent but not overwhelming, Hatsu is a good choice for simple everyday drinking, baking, lattes, and other uses.
Hatsu is the lightest character blend in our regular matcha lineup. Its taste is highlighted by astringency and a short aftertaste, and it has a refreshingly sharp personality when prepared straight as usucha. With a soft green color, it can also be a smart choice for people who enjoy using matcha in baking or in making lattes.

I had just finished a tin of matcha from Amazon, about $35 for 40 grams. It was super meh, I could barely taste the matcha. I ordered this afterwards, hearing great things about Ippodo matcha. I was not disappointed! Even though this is their cheapest matcha, the quality is clearly so much better than the one I ordered from Amazon. It is a gentle matcha, not overpowering, perfect for daily lattes. This is a great starting off point if you want to try the quality of this brand. I'm looking forward to trying the other matcha types in the near future!
My sister loves using Hatsu for her matcha lattes. They end up tasting much better than those from even the higher end cafes in town. I was so surprised by the quality considering this is Ippodo's most affordable variety of matcha. Great for any college student who is studying from home during the pandemic.
Good for latte or smoothie
Ive been buying Ippodo tea for couple years since I tried it in Kyoto. I am glad I can also buy it in US. While I also get more expensive one, I prefer this one as my everyday option. It is rich, bitter and versatile. It is so easy to make matcha at home, why paying more and getting low quality matcha in restaurant?
Very strong taste of caffine on my 1st bowl. I will not recommend this matcha if ur thin tea has few or no bubble.
