Shincha, now in convenient teabags.

Brand new this year, this set of One-Pot Teabags allows you to enjoy the new harvest of sencha, Shincha, in an easy-to-brew format. Just add one bag to a teapot, a travel flask, a pitcher, or a large mug cup, add hot or cold water, and brew to desired strength. Perfect as a gift for friends new to tea, or as an easy option for enjoying the delights of Shincha at home.

Taste Notes

Shincha is sencha tea that is released immediately after its harvest. This tea has a uniquely fresh, bright, snappy, and energetic character, and is only available once a year.

Shincha was shipped from our headquarters in Kyoto about ten days after it was picked. This year we are enjoying the especially classic Shincha character this tea displays—a result of the ideal weather in Kyoto this spring. After successfully enduring the cold of winter, the tea leaves this year opened slowly under bright sunlight, resulting in a full umami character balanced with refined astringency.

Our regular sencha also has a character of it's own, worthy of appreciation. After being picked, we allow it to rest for the summer until it acquires a relaxed, mature flavor before being sold. We love our regular sencha for its calm sweetness and balanced character. We love Shincha for its fleeting, energetic character that invigorates us at the start of summer.

Sencha

A harmonious blend of sweetness, bitterness, richness, astringency and fragrance-this is sencha. It's easy to understand why sencha is such a favorite beverage in Japan, not only for those seeking to quench a thirst, but also for those wanting to sip on something extra special.

In the morning or afternoon, before or after a meal, sencha is the perfect drink to revitalize your mind and refresh your spirit.
