Our Gokujo Hojicha is the perfect blend of roasted tea leaves and stems that many have come to love as a soothing everyday tea. Soft, sweet, and aromatic, Gokujo Hojicha our first recommendation whether you are looking to try hojicha for the first time or for the hundredth time.
When you drink hojicha for the first time, you might be surprised that it is a type of Japanese green tea, given its amber color. This roasted bancha releases an amazingly rich aroma that completely fills the room. The flavor is light-bodied, without much astringency.
Hojicha can be enjoyed in the evening as well as in the morning or afternoon. It tastes great on its own, with sweets, or accompanying a meal. Flavorful and refreshing, this tea is an absolute favorite among Ippodo patrons.
- Place 10g (2 tbsp.) in kyusu teapot
- Add 210 ml (7 oz) of boiling water
- Brew for 60 sec.
- Pour into glass full of ice

This is the tea I buy every time I'm in Kyoto, only now available for order overseas! It's great.
Wonderful smooth and light flavor. Has a mild roasted note but not too smoky as some Hojicha tea can be. Never tannic like traditional black tea and is great iced or hot.
My wife is Japanese. We've tried many different brands, but our favorite is Ippodo. Just the right balance of flavor, along with color. We've gone through 3 bags and just got 3 more.
This Hojicha (Gokujo) doesn’t turn bitter or has that strange dry mouth tasting the usual Hojicha has at the end. I liked it so much that I have bought three bags and send it to friends and family. Price is very nice for its quality.
Our family loves the taste of hojicha, especially my teenage son. It's a good anytime tea and has a nice roasted aroma. It's less caffeine so doesn't keep me awake.
