Ikuyo-no-mukashi is a matcha with just enough umami to represent the true character of matcha. It also tastes delightful when used to make matcha lattes.
Characterized by its rich aroma, full-bodied mellow sweetness, and vivid green color, matcha is a favorite among tea lovers in Japan. Ground from shade-cultivated tea leaves, matcha is rich in theanine -- an amino acid responsible for matcha's umami (translates to “savory deliciousness” and is also known as the fifth taste). Generally, the higher the grade, the richer the umami taste.

I'm rating it 3* because you're searching for a bad review.
This is 5 star tea. It's incredible. And this is exactly the tea that you need. Other teas have sour or fishy tastes, this one doesn't have any of it. It's very high quality, has an excellent flavor (i think they all taste the same) and this is the cheapest one at the time of my review so just get this one. It's amazing tea, I wouldn't take the time to write a review unless i thought it was the best. It's more expensive than other teas in general but it's so worth it!!
This matcha is great for lattes and smoothies. I am always happy with the quality of Ippodo Tea products and am so happy they are shipping right now since I can't visit the store in person due to quarantine.
Such amazing quality and taste! Bright green and very smooth. Makes delicious lattes! Recommended by the amazing her.atlas on Instagram. Will be a forever customer!
Was expecting delays due to covid-19 concerns, but the team was unbelievably quick in fulfilling my order and I couldn’t be happier with the product. The tin was a tiny bit smooshed, but considering the international shipping it’s understandable and didn’t hurt the tea. I hadn’t had a /proper/ cup of matcha before but I felt it was time I tried the real deal- I won’t be going back. Thanks to everyone at Ippodo for providing a simple joy in these strange times.
I haven't had Match in over 14 years. I didn't like it the first time I had it when I was in Japan and I decided to give it a try again. It's still bitter on my taste buds but I am enjoying it every morning since I've recieved it. The flavor is mild and makes it easy to mix into a homemade late. I'm looking forward to ordering more in the future.
Make sure you sift your Matcha before whisking, I noticed it was much smoother when I sifted the powder before hand.
