Ikuyo-no-mukashi is a matcha with just enough umami to represent the true character of matcha. It also tastes delightful when used to make matcha lattes.
Characterized by its rich aroma, full-bodied mellow sweetness, and vivid green color, matcha is a favorite among tea lovers in Japan. Ground from shade-cultivated tea leaves, matcha is rich in theanine -- an amino acid responsible for matcha's umami (translates to “savory deliciousness” and is also known as the fifth taste). Generally, the higher the grade, the richer the umami taste.

I haven't had Match in over 14 years. I didn't like it the first time I had it when I was in Japan and I decided to give it a try again. It's still bitter on my taste buds but I am enjoying it every morning since I've recieved it. The flavor is mild and makes it easy to mix into a homemade late. I'm looking forward to ordering more in the future.
Make sure you sift your Matcha before whisking, I noticed it was much smoother when I sifted the powder before hand.
Busy trying the other tea. Will review soon
Perfect both on its own or mixed with some oat milk. The color and brightness of this matcha are perfect for daily use. Love Ippodo!
Every morning I drink it! Feeling awesome.
I love this matcha, it’s the best I’ve come across! I just ordered three more tins. I wish they came in a larger container. :-)
This matcha is exactly as marketed and named: so smooth, and so creamy. It’s definitely on the milder side, so I would want to try a bolder flavor next time I order, but I think this one is a great starting point for anyone unsure of just how much they like matcha!
I buy for my husband and he loves the flavor of this one due to its hint of sweetness. He drinks it plain, perfect as a daily drink.
Such a delicious smooth matcha.
