To match the season, our blending team chose to feature two matchas that shine when served iced.
This set is a one-time release with a limited quantity available, at a special price.
Both Kanza and Kuon were the first blends released exclusively in North America. Our blending team developed them in answer to matcha fans’ calls for luscious, umami-rich teas.
As regular non-seasonal Ippodo blends, Kanza and Kuon have a consistent character and are available throughout the year. They both exhibit the rare refined, deep, and satisfying umami character that can only be found in the top-quality matcha harvests in Japan.
Kanza is pure, round umami. It’s full to the last whisper of its finish, with absolutely nothing out of place.
Its beautifully strong fragrance, unwavering umami, purity, and silky character are unparalleled in our collection.
Kuon stands out for its vibrant fragrance and elegance.
Its vivid green color, lingering aftertaste, and plentiful umami are hallmarks of a high-class matcha.
We recommend preparing these matcha straight with just water to enjoy their nuances. Serve side-by-side for a comparison, or slowly savor each one-at-a-time.
Both are delicious prepared cold. Cool temperature emphasizes high-class matcha’s deep sweetness.
Either add ice to warm-whisked matcha for a fragrant, foamy character (see Iced Matcha recipe below), or whisk with cool water, producing a pure-textured, foamless matcha.
