I’ve always been a fan of green tea, but it has taken me so long to get into drinking matcha. However, I am so pleased with Kanza matcha! This was my first round of Ippodo matcha, and I have to say- I am very impressed. The texture of the matcha is so smooth, and lush like the description says. It’s beautifully green and very high in quality. Yes, it is expensive, but to any daily green tea drinkers out there, this is a perfect way to start your morning! I highly recommend Kanza.
This matcha is the most expensive I have ever tried but I figured it would be worth the splurge (and I wasn't wrong). It is smooth and creamy with a subtle sweetness and a beautiful fragrance. I've only tried it as Usucha but I'm sure it would make a great Koicha. I like making my tea at 70C and I use three heaping scoops and it comes out perfect with a luscious thick foam. There is no way to get any kind of bitterness out of Kanza. It's an absolutely delicious treat all the way around: whether it's in the can, or in the bowl, you'll experience a complete sensory nirvana.
The Kanza blend is an excellent matcha. The fragrance of the powder is bright and fruity — almost tropical and floral. When whisked, the smoothness is unmistakable: the mouthfeel is creamy and buttery indicative of the highest grade of matcha. The tea envelops your tongue in a starchy, slightly sweet taste without any hint of bitterness. I personally recommend trying once to use water brewed below the recommend temperature (I usually do 160°F) to bring out a more mellow and creamier character of the tea. While Ippodo’s Ummon blend packs a bit more flavor (and I'd say complexity), the Kanza is the matcha you want to reach for to embrace the subtler, smoother quality of top-tier matchas.
