I'd never had a gyokuro before. I admit I dithered about the price without knowing what I was getting into, but I finally decided to give it a try.

If you've ever had a good sencha, imagine they dialed the astringency all the way down, leaving the umami at the forefront, with a hint of sweetness at the finish. (Goes great with a slice of buttery toast.) Second steep was just as nice as the first, and I will likely be sipping on this most of the morning.
