New Harvest Matcha
For the first time ever, we are excited to offer New Harvest Matcha exclusively to our USA and Canada customers.
Traditionally, the tea leaves that are made into matcha are not ground into powder immediately after harvest as the classic character of matcha is made by resting the tea leaves for several months first. We are happy to introduce this unique tea made with the just-harvested crop, full of the just-picked, energetic character the tea leaves have in early summer.
New Harvest Matcha is beaming with the energy of just-picked tea leaves. The tea leaves used to make this tea would rank in the rich category of our matcha, so you can expect a similar long aftertaste, vibrant color, and sweet aroma as those grades. However, this tea also has a snappy, energetic flavor.
New Harvest Matcha also reflects the uniqueness of this year’s harvest, which depends on the climate and other growing conditions in the tea fields. We are delighting in the drinkability of this harvest’s tea. With a brilliant color and rich aroma, this year’s tea has a smooth sweetness reminiscent of roasted nuts.
You can best enjoy the full depth of this matcha’s character as koicha, and even as this thick tea, New Harvest Matcha remains refreshingly smooth. As regular strength usucha, it is wonderfully refreshing.
Characterized by its rich aroma, full-bodied mellow sweetness, and vivid green color, matcha is a favorite among tea lovers in Japan. Ground from shade-cultivated tea leaves, matcha is rich in theanine -- an amino acid responsible for matcha's umami (translates to “savory deliciousness” and is also known as the fifth taste). Generally, the higher the grade, the richer the umami taste.
