This ceramic whisk holder (chasen-tate) is sturdy and light. After rinsing, protect and store your chasen by placing it in this holder, with the tips facing down. This allows your chasen to dry nicely in between matcha sessions.

Instructions

Follow these tips to keep your Chasen in optimal condition.

1. When whisking
Dip in water before use to make the tips less brittle. Rinse in water – without soap – soon after use.

4. Store
A whisk stand (chasen-tate) holds it in shape as it dries.

Note: Replace the chasen when the tips are broken. Only use with water and matcha. For lattes, add milk (or alternative) after whisking.

You can prepare matcha for a number of people all at once using the Tea Bowl with Serving Spout.

1. Sift matcha
6 g (0.21 oz)
4.5 heaping tea ladles or 3 level teaspoons.

Usucha for a Group (Three Servings)
Thin Matcha
1. Sift matcha
6 g (0.21 oz)
4.5 heaping tea ladles or 3 level teaspoons.
2. Add hot water
180 mL (6 oz) 80°C (176°F)
Pour boiling water into a teacup to cool it to 80C°, then pour into tea bowl.

2. Add hot water
180 mL (6 oz) 80°C (176°F)
Pour boiling water into a teacup to cool it to 80C°, then pour into tea bowl.
3. Whisk
15 seconds
Whisk vigorously 15 seconds, making an "M" shape.
