Ikuyo - 30g
Ikuyo is a medium-bodied matcha with a refreshing bitterness that is slightly more noticeable than its sweetness and umami.
Ikuyo is a balanced matcha with astringency, umami, and sweetness in proportion. Its medium-light body is joined by a gentle, but bright aroma, like sun-dried straw. As usucha, it is a good option for everyday teatime, served straight and with cookies, cakes, or other sweets. One of our top recommendations for a matcha latte, Ikuyo has slight astringency that pairs well with the milk, and its bright green color makes for a photogenic beverage.

This is my go-to; I drink it every single morning. It's sort of pricey but for what it actually is I think it's a great deal. The texture and flavor are spot on.
I love this matcha! Wonderful for daily drinking and also for lattes.
Perfect for making matcha latte. Great for every day, especially considering price per gram.
Before buying from ippodo I was drinking matcha that I bought from Costco and Ito En. I’ve been studying recently for board exams while all my friends were enjoying summer so I figured I would spoil myself somehow. After a lot of research I decided to try Ippodo out and their Ikuyu matcha was their only matcha that sold in “bulk” for a relatively cheap price. I don’t regret it. Upon opening the bag the aroma was sweet and and uplifting. Maybe the matcha I bought had been sitting around for too long because when I compared the two, Ito En was extremely bitter in both taste and smell. The difference in price and quality is pretty apparent. Will be doing more research into other brands of matcha but this matcha is now a staple for me.
This was my first time trying the Ikuyo, which is similar to the Chidori that they used in the NYC shop for lattes. I make a quasi-latte almost every day (just a splash of some oat milk for extra creaminess), and had been using Kan, which I also love. Seeing this one is offered in a larger size for people who go through it quickly like I do, I wanted to try the 30g first, and definitely will be ordering the 100g next!
