Gyokuro

Being a shade-cultivated tea, gyokuro is rich in theanine-an amino acid responsible for its full-bodied, mellow, and thick sweetness. In Japan, there is a special name for this taste: umami. Generally, the higher the grade, the richer the umami taste. Gyokuro fans love this tea for its sweet, less-astringent nature and its deep-green aroma.

Made from gyokuro mecha (shoots and buds) and konacha (flakes), our Gyokuro One Cup Teabags will brew a lighter-bodied tea than the loose leaf versions. Packaged in a wide pyramid-shape sachet, the tea leaves have a lot of space to expand. The result is a simple and authentic cup of Japanese tea every time.

How to brew

Add one gyokuro teabag to a cup, pour on hot water*, and wait for 1.5 minutes. Move the teabag around in the cup until the tea has reached the desired strength, and you're done. *Use less-than-boiling temperature water to enjoy a well-balanced brew.

This 12-bag box, which includes instructions on the back in both English and Japanese, will provide plenty of delicious tea for your enjoyment at home or at work.
