Ippoen - 50g Bag
|Shelf life||180 days|
|Serving size||10g (2 tbsp.) per pot|
|Size||3.9" x 1" x 7.9"|
|Net weight||1.8 oz|
For the gyokuro connoisseur with a discerning taste, Ippoen is an excellent choice. Rich in umami, smooth in texture and virtually void of astringency, Ippoen is a true connoisseur-class gyokuro that is a favorite among our patrons.
Being a shade-cultivated tea, gyokuro is rich in theanine-an amino acid responsible for its full-bodied, mellow, and thick sweetness. In Japan, there is a special name for this taste: umami. Generally, the higher the grade, the richer the umami taste. Gyokuro fans love this tea for its sweet, less-astringent nature and its deep-green aroma.
- Place 10g (2 tbsp.) in kyusu teapot
- Add 210 ml (7 oz) of chilled water
- Brew for 15 min.
* Make another pot using the same tea leaves. Brew the 2nd pot for 7min., and the 3rd pot for 3 min.
Worth it, IMO
An excellent tea but not necessarily excellent value. The freshness was not in doubt, and I would purchase again.
I purchased this after trying Kanru, however this was not as sweet and no lingering taste on my tongue. Overall, Kanru is a much better value for the money.
