Matcha Tea Bowl - Cream
Matcha is most often made in a tea bowl called a chawan. To enjoy, sip the freshly whisked tea directly from the chawan while holding it gently in both hands.
All Ippodo chawan are made exclusively for us by artisans in Japan, to our design specifications. We work with these artisans to develop wide and deep chawan, to make the wide motion of whisking matcha easier, whether you are making regular usucha matcha, or koicha thick matcha. Our bowls are also light, and feel satisfying to hold in your hands.
For Delightful Matcha Every Day
The simple cream-white glaze of this chawan showcases the deep color of the matcha, and a subtle hakeme white brush stroke adorns the side of the bowl. After a while of using this bowl regularly, cracks will naturally begin to form in the glaze, forming a unique pattern. This change is meant to be cherished as a sign of a well-loved chawan
Gifu Ware (Mino-yaki)
Gifu is a landlocked prefecture in the mountains in the central region of the main Japanese island, to the east of Kyoto. This prefecture is home to one of the most famous and storied traditions of pottery in all of Japan. Mino-yaki encompasses several distinct styles, each highly valued by the tea ceremony for centuries. The artisans producing our tea bowls in this region craft the clay for their works themselves by hand, from soil in the area.

It’s a simple, beautiful matcha bowl. The green matcha tea is striking in this chawan. Great to hold and drink from.
The detailing is so beautiful, and it is very pleasant to hold. The wide opening makes it very easy to whisk matcha, and the cream colour really showcases the matcha's green colour. I love using it every morning.
Perfect for gift
I really like this bowl, and enjoy drinking my matcha with it.
The bowl is great and has a nice finish. Note that it can be a little deeper in colour compared to pics and i assume bc if its curing process but other than that would buy again and can tell its handmade
