Does Ippodo conduct tests to detect microplastics in its teabags?

Written on April 17, 2023 (updated on April 29, 2025)

Ippodo's teabags are made from materials compliant with Japan’s Food Sanitation Act, so we are confident in their safety. At this time, we have not conducted tests to measure microplastics. Research on the effects of microplastics (0.001mm–5mm in size) and even smaller nanoplastics is still ongoing. We will continue to monitor studies conducted by research institutions both in Japan and internationally and act according to their recommendations.
