Matcha Whisk (Chasen) - 80-tip
The chasen matcha whisk is an essential tool for making the perfect bowl of matcha.
This whisk is meticulously made by hand out of bamboo, one-by-one. Its fine, springy tips allow for quick matcha whisking. Matcha whisked with a chasen has a smooth texture and a fine aroma.
Clean the chasen after each use by rinsing in water. Store in the open air to allow it to dry completely. We recommend storing it tips-down on a Whisk Stand (Chasen Tate) to keep its shape.
Our chasen is hand-made by artisans in South Korea who were taught the craft by a master artisan from Japan. Each whisk is quality-checked by Ippodo before being accepted. These chasen are used in the Ippodo tearooms and shops in Kyoto, Tokyo, and New York.

Excellent Matcha Whisk !
It was worth the money, better than those cheap matcha whisk.
Excellent whisk, froths up my matcha with little effort and very quickly!
Quality of the tines are excellent as well. I had a 100 tine one with poorer quality bamboo/cutouts and it wasn't as effective. So even though this is "just" 80 tips, it's very effective.
The chasen is very nice and definitely higher quality than my previous one that I got many years ago. However, the curled tips unfurled during the first use when it came into contact with hot water. I thought they might curl up again while drying on the ceramic stand but the bamboo tips are now straight. It certainly affects the look and I think reduces the quality of stirring the matcha now. Not sure if I got a slightly faulty one.
Thank you for your review comment. We are very glad to hear from you.
The curled tip is a “decoration” that the craftsman add as part of the final process of making the whisk. Once it is used or dipped in hot/cold water, the tip becomes straight. Once the tip becomes straight it won't curl back again. This is normal and doesn’t affect the quality of the whisk or the ability to mix Matcha and water.
