In a few words, the 2024 release of Premium Select Matcha is round, clean, and fresh.
It offers a complex experience. At first sip, it is clean, smooth, and approachable. However, after swallowing, its round, rich umami starts to blossom, filling the whole palate. Though the finish is long and full, the overall experience feels clean and lightweight.
To make comparisons, the initial fresh moss-like character opens up to a round umami that reminds us of a crisp Parmesan. Its fragrance is sweet and lush, while its color is verdant like the spring undergrowth in the mountains south of Kyoto.
This is an accessible, low-astringency release of Premium Select Matcha, and we recommend it to new matcha drinkers as well. Seasoned matcha fans will enjoy the complexity of its taste from beginning to end. When preparing it, try mixing just with hot or cold water to fully enjoy its nuances.
