Set Contents:

  • Sayaka Matcha 40g – our most popular blend. A balance of richness and light astringency, with a sweet aroma.
  • Chasen #2 – a bamboo whisk for daily matcha whisking at home.
  • Chashaku – a ladle for matcha, made entirely from bamboo.
  • Matcha Bowl (Cream) – a bowl designed for matcha. Easy to whisk in and sip from.
  • Oval Box – Crafted from sturdy paper and lacquered by hand in Kyoto.

The bustle of the holidays: traveling, rushing to meet work deadlines, shopping for presents. In between the rush, it’s important to take time for yourself to decompress and relax. Here, matcha, made simply in a bowl with classic utensils, is a welcome comfort.

Making matcha involves simply boiling water, measuring matcha powder into a bowl, whisking with water, and sipping. But it brings us so much more, from the brilliant color to the sweet fragrance when whisking, to the rich, soothing taste when we put the bowl to our lips.

And, at the end of session, having a beautiful box to put everything away in feels just-right.

Make matcha a part of your winter routine with this limited box set, featuring utensils selected by the experts at Ippodo.

The highlight of this bundle is this hand-lacquered box, modeled on a Shaker Box. The box is made from a robust paper: lokta, from Nepal, selected by the box maker in Kyoto expressly for its sturdiness and its beautiful texture. It has a small amount of flexibility in the walls, but is sturdy enough to last a lifetime of careful use.

The finish is done by applying lacquer in layers on the inside and out, and “firing” the box in an oven. No coloration is used in the lacquer; the deep brown is the true color of cured natural lacquer.
