November Removal of Tariffs for Green Tea

The US government announced this month that the new tariffs put into place this year on Japanese products will no longer apply to green tea (including matcha).

We will be removing the costs of tariffs from affected items, effective immediately.

We had raised prices in September this year primarily because the material costs of tea at market in Kyoto this year rose dramatically: 2.7 times the previous year for matcha, and 2.5 times for all teas. The timing in September arrived right as additional tariffs were put into place, and we had factored the tariff costs into the new prices.

Since the tariffs on green tea (including matcha) from Japan have now been removed, we are updating our prices to remove the costs of these tariffs from affected products.

This update is subject to future change, as the nature of international tariffs and related policies are unpredictable.
