Matcha Latte

Combine matcha's natural sweetness and crisp green bite with the creamy texture of milk.

1. Sift matcha

3 g (0.11 oz)

2 heaping tea ladles or 1.5 level teaspoons.

100 mL (3.4 oz)

80°C (176°F)

Pour boiling water into a teacup to cool it to 80°C, then pour into tea bowl.

15 seconds

60 mL (2 oz)

80°C (176°F)

Koicha (Thick Matcha)

Matcha made into a rich, thick paste by using less water and more matcha powder per serving.

1. Sift matcha

4 g (0.14 oz)

3 heaping tea ladles or 2 level teaspoons.

2. Add hot water

30 mL (1 oz)

80°C (176°F)

Cool boiling water to 80°C in teacup, then pour into bowl, just covering matcha powder.

3. Whisk

15 seconds

Mix slowly for 15 seconds moving back and forth.

Iced Matcha

Prepare matcha with hot water and cool it rapidly with plenty of ice.

1. Sift matcha

2 g (0.07 oz)

1.5 heaping tea ladles or 1 level teaspoon.

2. Add hot water

60 mL (2 oz)

80°C (176°F)

Pour boiling water into a teacup to cool it to 80°C, then pour into tea bowl.

3. Whisk

4. Add ice

1-2 ice cubes

Add ice, mix slightly, and it's ready!

An iced latte is smooth, refreshing, and easy-to-drink.

1. Sift matcha

3 g (0.11 oz)

Well-Rounded Matcha

This is probably the Goldilocks of all the Ippodo matchas for me, so far. It’s strong enough for the taste to shine through in lattes but not at all bitter. It has a hint of sweetness on its own, even without having to add sugar. Highly recommend!

Wonderful for Newbie Matcha Lover

I typically have tried matcha on its own in the past, even following the process of proper matcha made with a bowl & matcha wisk, but couldn't get over its earthy bitterness still. So I stuck to getting matcha lattes going forward. Well I decided to try and make them for myself and gave Ippodo a try as my first time using quality ingredients. Kan was the type recommendation from the site and it was so wonderful! I finally found a flavor profile that didn't have a bad aftertaste and tasted like how cafe's make as matcha lattes. Even drinking it as plain matcha tea was delicious. The flavor is mild enough to still be enjoyed by tea lovers who aren't the biggest fans of strong earth flavors. Would recommend as a great choice for getting introduced to and used to matcha flavor.

Favourite daily matches for lattes

Tried all sorts of top notch matcha brands in Japan over the years. Always come back to my two Ippodo favourites - Ummon and Kan. Kan has a very soft flavour with caramel like notes. There are very subtle crisp undertones but it’s not bitter or earthy at all. Love in my daily iced latte with unsweetened soya milk.

My new fave

This has become my new fave matcha. I have tried sayaka and ikuyo from ippodo. Sayaka was rich but a little too mild flavor wise, meanwhile ikuyo was too snappy but not enough richness or umami. Kan was the perfect medium between these 2 and has become my go to. It is perfect for usucha and has enough flavor to withstand any type of milk I add when making a latte.

Yummy!!!

On the sweeter-ish/ mellow side but the flavor is perfect!!!! Would definitely buy again! Have been obsessed with coconut water + matcha cream and it was delicious!
